Omaha Sports Commission’s new chief operating officer sees ‘tremendous amount of potential here’

Spending the last nine years in Sioux Falls and Des Moines, Wes Hall knew the reputation Omaha had and always seemed to be padding in the sports world. Hall is ready to become part of it. The Omaha Sports Commission announced Tuesday that Hall has been hired as its chief operating officer. It’s a newly created position that will allow OSC President Harold Cliff to turn his full focus in January to the 2016 U.S. Swim Trials.

Olympic coaches glad to see Swim Trials back in Omaha

David Marsh is thrilled to be coming back to Omaha in June, and not just because he was named Wednesday as head coach of the 2016 U.S. Olympic women’s swimming team. Marsh also looks forward to more heaping helpings of Omaha hospitality while in town for the June 26-July 3 U.S. Olympic Trials at the CenturyLink Center. “I’ll tell you one of my favorite things about Omaha is being out at a restaurant, talking to people in Omaha,” Marsh said. “It’s such a pleasant place with pleasant people, and you feel welcome in a genuine way.”

2016 NSAA State Wrestling Championships


Nebraska’s best high school wrestlers will compete for individual and team crowns, during the 2016 NSAA Wrestling Championship. Wrestlers take the mats February 18-20 at CenturyLink Center Omaha.

2016 USA Triathlon Age Group National Championship


Omaha has been selected to host the USA Triathlon Age Group National Championships on August 13-14, 2016. The event venue is centered in Carter Lake with a scenic bike course along the river and a run course inside TD Ameritrade Park.
